The A-10 Warthog (Thunderbolt II) Military Aircraft Die Cast and Plastic Model airplane kits.Description of collectable airplane kits. The A-10 Warthog, as it is mostly known, is really the A-10 Thunderbolt II but because of its looks, they called it the Warthog. It is used for close ground support and anti tank missions. The A-10 Warthog carries a 30 mm Gatling cannon in its nose and can penetrate any kind of armor. The A-10 is also heavily covered with portions of Armor Plate to protect vital components of the aircraft and protect the pilot. During the Gulf War, when Iraqi tank commanders saw the A-10 Warthog in the area, the commanders gave the order to abandon the tank and not to try to out maneuver or fight against the Warthog. This is because these tanks knew that they didn't have single chance of getting away without being destroyed. One common story about the A-10's is that it is capable of jettisoning an engine so that heat seeking missiles would follow the engine and not the plane. This is totally wrong and I have absolutely no idea where this fictitious statement came from. The warthog uses flares to do this job. There are many ways to search the web for the A-10 here are some search phrases that can help, model airplanes, A10, A-10, warthog, thunderbolt II, thunderbolt, ground attack .These collectable models come in plastic model airplane kits, wood model airplane kits, diecast and mahogany airplane models. The A-10 is not really a fighter jet, it is actually a close ground support and anti-tank aircraft. The A in A10 stands for Attack. Real fighter jets have their numbers starting with F. The F/A-18 is a multi-role aircraft being a fighter jet, and also capable of operating in the Attack Mode. These Specs are only for one version of this A-10 Warthog, close ground support aircraft, other versions have different specs. |
