Model Airplanes of the Vought A-7 Corsair II Military fighter jets from the US Navy. The A-7 Corsair II was replaced by the F-18 Hornet.These A-7 Corsair II fighter jets come in plastic model airplanes, diecast model airplanes and mahogany airplane models. The A-7E Corsair II is one of the most successful light attack military aircraft ever made. It was manufactured by LTV Vought. The A-7 is 46' long 16' high and has a wingspan of 38' 9" The A7 Jet has an empty weight of 19,500 lbs and a max weight of 42,000 lbs. the A-7 has one Allison TF-41 turbojet engine with no afterburner producing 15,000 lbs of thrust. The A-7A and B's used the TF-30 Turbofan Engines while the A-7E Used the TF-41 Turbofan Engine. The corsair has a top speed of 602 kts and a max range of 2280 nm. The Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-based subsonic light attack
aircraft introduced to replace the United States Navy's A-4 Skyhawk, initially
entering service during the Vietnam War. The Corsair was later adopted by the
United States Air Force, to include the Air National Guard, to replace the A-1
Skyraider, F-100 Super Sabre and F-105 Thunderchief. The aircraft was also
exported to Greece in the 1970s, and Portugal and Thailand in the late 1980s.
The A-7 airframe design was based on the successful supersonic F-8 Crusader
produced by Chance Vought. It was one of the first combat aircraft to feature a
head-up display (HUD), an inertial navigation system (INS), and a turbofan
engine.
