Primitive Wilderness Skills

Free Sites with Survival Skills, I picked these because they are very powerful websites that show exactly what you should be learning.
These sites briefly cover all of the skills, so be sure to buy a book and a field guide to supplement your knowledge base.  Learning to survive outdoors or in the wild is not the case where you watch one video or read one book.  It is a lifetime study and if you want to survive the global crisis that is coming to our planet, you better start studying now.  C. Jeff Dyrek, North Pole Expedition Leader, Long time Explorer and Webmaster.

Ron Hood, Woodsmaster
Super Survival Videos

If you are an outdoors person, you'll find all the DVDs in the Woodsmaster series useful, interesting, and possibly, life-saving. Ron Hood B.A. M.S. Ed.D. (ABD) developed his early wilderness interests as a member of the Military Intelligence Community while in the Army Security Agency (ASA). After training, Ron spent a year in the Middle East and nearly 18 months in Vietnam. Since the military Ron taught accredited classes in Wilderness Skills at two Universities for over 20 years, authored numerous articles for National magazines, published a Guidebook to the Sierra as well as appearing on many TV and Radio Programs. Ron spends much of his time learning, practicing and studying wilderness and survival skills with native populations around the world.

From the Webmaster:  These videos are not the short TV shows that you normally see. These videos teach you the HOW TO in a step by step method.  This is very, very important because the TV shows skip so many pieces of the necessary survival skills.  If you want to survive, you need to go through these videos starting at volume one.  One more note.  If you notice that I have left one of the TV survivor program video series off of this website.  I watch one man who drinks urine and eats animal dung, he jumps in to raging rivers and just does everything that will kill you faster than you can imagine.  Do not drink your urine, eat dung or jump into mountain streams.  You will die.  I have over two years of continuous living outdoors, I have climbed the highest mountain the lower 48 states along with many, many other mountains, I've been in the jungles of Philippines, have traveled through northern Siberia and led a North Pole Expedition.  I'm still not an expert at survival. Ron Hood is a true professional and I'm sure that he would not drink his urine.  I'm telling you this because I don't want to see anything bad happen to you, I want you to survive and be healthy.  C. Jeff Dyrek.

Using some Buffalo skin, deer hide and an old badger hide we show a couple of tanning projects in a couple of ways. First we tan the hide of an animal harvested and salted over 20 years ago. Then we take a deer hide from its raw state through hide scraping, de-hairing, braining, grain breaking and finally to its finished smoked and pliable destiny. We also discuss tendons and how to prepare them for use and how to make a primitive pouch using leather extras. We take a quick look at blade profiles and a close look at the work of one of our Hoodlum forum members, Scott Gossman from Razorback knives. Along the way we have a bunch of fun! The video is over 1 hour and 40 minutes. It's jam packed with information and much of it is presented by Hoodlum forum Posse member, wilderness expert and good friend, Joe Bigley from Salmon Outdoor School at the Sacajawea center in Salmon, Idaho.
