The P-47 Thunderbolt WW2 Warbird. The Videos and DVD movies listed here will show a tremendous about the P-47 and its history. The P-47 Thunderbolt was used in the fighter groups of nine U.S. Air Forces spread across the globe during WWII. It was also used by numerous foreign air forces. The P-47 ‘Jug’ was legendary for its power and ruggedness as it conducted fighter sweep, bomber escort, and ground attack missions in every theater of the war. The 350th Fighter Group in the Mediterranean Campaign 2 November, 1942 to 2 May 1945. The group comprised the 345th, 346th, and 347th Fighter Squadrons, flying against the Luftwaffe during the Moroccan, Tunisian, Sicilian and Italian campaigns in P-39s and P-47s. Although initially thought to be burdened with a craft too large, heavy, and un maneuverable, the P-47 pilots eventually acquired the skills they needed to counter the nimble Luftwaffe fighters. And the introduction of P-47Cs in mid-1943, with their added external tanks, improved the pilot's combat radius. Although it recorded 3,916 kills as a fighter, the P-47 was later used primarily as a ground-attack aircraft, destroying thousands of tanks, locomotives, rail cars, and trucks. Production P-47 Thunderbolts were in the air in early 1943, excelling in bomber escort and ground-attack bombing. P-47s were flown by the air forces of Australia, Brazil, France, the Soviet Union, and Great Britain--more than 12,000 planes in all, more than any other U.S. fighter before or since. This collection of Movies, Videos and DVD Movies about the P-47 Thunderbolt will show you the real capabilities of the P-47.P-47 Thunderbolt Books P-47 Thunderbolt Models P-47 Thunderbolt Aviation Art |

Roaring
Glory, Vol. 5: Republic Thunderbolt P-47 (1998)
DVD Best Fighter of WWII, September 27, 2002 A viewer (Brantford, Ontario Canada) This is the Warbird I would have wanted to be in with my life on the line. My humble opinion is that this is the best fighter of WWII. This DVD is great for the detail, the video quality, the multi-angles, and much more. I love to watch the landing from the pilot's point of view, it makes you feel like you're flying the plane yourself. You can hear that beautiful, throaty roar of the massive Pratt & Whitney, you can almost smell the burning oil. The Family Photo Album is great, even the mini-movie is good, with actual WWII footage. The pilot's manual is also great. Another must-have DVD for Warbird fans. |

Fighter Squadron's World War II Gift Pak
VHS Video Description A collection of the producer's favorite World War II videos presenting some of the best military aviation footage on the market. As a special bonus, the set also includes "Berlin '48", detailing the heroic effort to save Berlin at the beginning of the Cold War, along with an antique 1940's style AM-FM radio. This set contains: WHISPERS OF DEATH - WWII as seen from the gun sights of American fighters and attackers. Be in the center of dog-fights. Dive for the ones trying to get away. Original footage shows the best Japan and Nazi Germany ever had. LIMPING HOME - For all the marvels of the ejection seat, one thing remains true - given the choice, given any viable option, pilots prefer to stay with their planes and to bring them home. This edition is devoted entirely to getting home, on a wing and a prayer. GUN CAMERAS OF WWII - This production is loaded with historic footage, showing it the way it happened: Witness the terror of the air war during World War II exactly as it was fought in Europe and the Pacific, all seen from the unique vantage point of the cockpit. US bombers under relentless attack by Nazi fighters; American P-51's, P-47's, P-38's, and P-40's as they charge into battle; Air-to-air pursuits all the way to the ground; Strafing of factories, trains, and ammo dumps right into the heart of Germany and Japan. BERLIN '48 - They saved a city because it had to be done. In 1948, Berlin was suddenly and unexpectedly blockaded by the Soviets. Rather than let a city die, cargo planes began a dangerous, round-the-clock airlift that brought in the food, medicines and coal that Berliner's needed to survive. Flying Follies
EAA Video VHS This video features three accidents with the P-47 that could have been avoided. Training officers take you through the "do's" and "don'ts" of flying the P-47. 40 min. Webmasters Note:
One of my long time friends, Jack Long a AT6 Fighter Pilot Instructor then
a B-29 Pilot, told me a story about his first experience with the P-47.
He was stationed at a training base in Florida when a pilot came to show
the squadron the new P-47. Jacks Commanding Officer took the plane
for his first test ride and flew past the troops who were watching on the
ground. Jacks Commander flew by at full speed then pulled back on
the stick for a quick climb. This is a DON'T. The plane went
into a high speed stall and instantaneous horizontal spin only fifty feet
from the ground. Jacks Commander recovered, flew around the pattern
then landed. He told his troops, "I almost got killed."
This is one of the DON'T's of flying a Warbird. Don't Show Off.

This is an older movie starring Robert Stack. It is about a P-47 Squadron. The German planes are actually P-51Ds. I don't remember when it was made, but it was in the '50s and it is in color. Good flying sequences. Chuck Rau :) |

Last spring the North Pole temperature was only -1 degree F.
We flew an ultralight, 6 balloon pilots logged their North
Pole flights,
We had five jumpers who entered their jumps in their logbooks,
there was a man in a wheelchair who made it to the pole,
We had several helicopters, a home built airplane, a jet
and an An-2 Biplane there. Everyone got to visit Star City
(Russia's NASA)
the Kremlin Armory, and Red Square. The Expedition members
flew in
Russian Military aircraft including the An-24, An-74, and the Mi-8.
They also
visited Khatanga and saw the Woolly Mammoth Digs, and Shrednii Island's
Russian, formerly secret, ICBM base and more. The trip was inexpensive
and you can go
