Did Japan detonate an atomic device
just days before its surrender in World War II? Through once
top-secret documents, this program presents evidence that
Japan - which had world-class nuclear physicists, access to
uranium ore and cyclotrons to process it - may have been
just weeks behind the U.S. in the race for the atomic bomb
and had even devised the means to deliver the bombs via
400-foot long Sen Toku submarines capable of carrying
airplanes. Color and B&W, 50 minutes.

How the Sinking of a Single
Japanese Submarine Assured the Outcome of World War II
Billings. In the early hours of June 24, 1944, U.S. Navy
warplanes patrolling the Atlantic sank the Japanese
Submarine I-52. This riveting narrative examines I-52's
mission to deliver its gold cargo to the Germans and return
to Japan with the lethal ingredients of a doomsday weapon -
the radiological bomb - that would have turned much of
America into a radioactive wasteland. 312 pages, 6¼"x 9¼",

Stille. During World War II, the
IJN was at the forefront of submarine technology. It fielded
the largest pre-nuclear submarines in the world (some
capable of carrying floatplane bombers), fast combat vessels
and midget submarines, all equipped with the best torpedoes
available. But despite this, the fleet was surprisingly
ineffective. Here, you'll get an up-close look at the
astounding technical advances of these vessels - and learn
about the wartime tactics responsible for their failure. 48
pages, B&W photographs and color illustrations, 7¼"x 9¾",
softcover.

Attempts to Bomb America in World War II.
Horn. From Kawanishi H8K "Emily" flying boats that covered
more than 4,750 miles to bomb Pearl Harbor in 1942, to the
thousands of bomb-carrying balloons designed to ride the jet
stream across the Pacific and create panic and terror in
American cities, to plans for submarine-based floatplanes
that would bomb the continental United States and the Panama
Canal, this book provides a wealth of new material and
technical data on Japan's mostly unknown plans and
operations. 360 pages, 6"x 9", hardcover.
