Military Anti-Submarine Aircraft Warfare, Anti Submarine Weapons training, Anti Submarine SquadronsBecause of these military aircraft, our country is way ahead of the ball game. When we are being attacked by an enemy, we know their coming and where their coming from giving us a real big advantage against any enemy. Many of these military aircraft are commonly found on aircraft carriers. The S-3 Viking shown above is an anti-submarine electronic warfare aircraft. The S-3 Squadron on our ship, the USS Kitty Hawk, were called the Screwbirds and they had an emblem on the tail of a bird with a screw through its belly. C. Jeff Dyrek, Webmaster. |

Shin Meiwa PS-1 1/72 Kit Hello,
Webmasters Note:
This is an identical model of the P3 Spy plane that had collided with
the Chinese Flown MiG-25 near Hinan Island in April 2001. It
was a crime on the Chinese part because there is no way that this slow,
clumsy aircraft could avoid being hit by the extremely fast, nimble
MiG-25 Jet Fighter.
Note 2: Look at
the probe sticking out of the back of this airplane. This is part
of the aircraft's MAD gear which stands for Magnetic Anomaly Detector.
I detects minute variations in the earths magnetic field caused by a
ferrous (Iron) object such as a submarine under the water. This
version of the aircraft is used as an Anti-Submarine aircraft. C. Jeff Dyrek

Crocker. Here is the colorful, humorous and
sometimes miraculous story of the U.S. Navy's Catalina Patrol Bomber in the

American warplanes, PBYs and their crews contributed significantly to the war
efforts - as you'll read in these tales of strafing runs, submarine hunting and
support missions. 275 pages, 37 B&W photographs, 16 maps, 6"x 9", softcover.
PBJ Mitchell Units of the Pacific War

Scutts. Flown by the U.S. Marines, the PBJs
were bought as land-based patrol bombers for operations in the Atlantic and
Pacific and kitted out to hunt down submarines and surface vessels. Identical to
its Air Force counterpart, except for its ability to lay mines, deploy depth
charges and launch torpedoes, more than 700 PBJs were delivered. This book
outlines the aircraft's history and technology, and takes a close look at the
men who flew it. 96 pages, B&W photographs and color artwork, 7¼"x 9¾",

P-Boat: One, U-Boat: Nothing
Aviation Art Print
Don Feight.
The big, tough Martin flying boats were already in service prior to
America's entry into WWII and were quickly adapted to the role of anti-submarine
warfare against the Nazi U-boat wolfpacks in early 1942, but were used in a
variety of other roles that included - search and rescue, transport, electronic
warfare, reconnaissance, and patrol. Print depicts a Martin PBM Mariner over
calm seas attacking a submerged U-boat with a low-level depth charge run. The
aircraft carried its ordnance in a unique bomb bay located in the engine
nacelles, and it had the capability of carrying torpedoes under the wings.
Signed and numbered, limited edition of 500, 28"x 22" print.

aircraft that were "Cold War Warriors," Neptunes operated well into the 1970s
until they were eventually replaced by newer P-3 Orions. Limited edition print

My name is DJ Tressler and I am writing about your p-3 aircraft
model. Just wanted to inform you that the model on your site
depicts that it is the exact replica of the p3 aircraft that was hit
by the Chinese mig in 2001. This is in fact not true.
The P-3 aircraft in the picture is a p-3C. The aircraft that
hit the prop of PR-32 in china was an
EP-3E Aries II. The difference is the large M&M shaped
antennae on the bottom of the plane and various other antennae on
the top, bottom and wings of the aircraft. It is similar in
many ways but has a completely different mission and features.
The P3C is a primarily a sub hunting aircraft, not recon. Just
thought that if you didn’t know that you might want to.
Sincerely
DJ Tressler 6-16-2009

In 1916, before the U.S. entered World War I, Assistant Secretary of the
Navy Franklin D. Roosevelt spurred the Navy to design an effective
anti-submarine vessel. And by 1917 the Navy did just that, delivering
the SC-1-class submarine chaser. Now, nearly 100 years later, you can
deliver one of your own! This 1/35 scale balsa and basswood kit features
laser-cut plank-on-frame construction, a realistic pilot house and mast,
