  J. Paul Getty turned around Spartan Aircraft during World War II and restructured the factory into a trailer and mobile home maker after VJ day. 

The fifty years old millionaire oilman, with no previous manufacturing experience, was such a natural leader, that Spartan Aircraft not only became one of the most efficient aircraft component manufacturers, but with a workforce of 5500, a significant contributor to the American War effort. Besides 90 NP-1 trainers,
  Jean Paul Getty was first sent to the Harvard Military Academy and then to the Polytechnic High School, from which he graduated in 1909. He then persuaded his father to let him work the summer as a roustabout in the oilfields of Oklahoma. At seventeen he was tall and exceptionally strong, a good swimmer, amateur boxer and weightlifter. Thus, despite his rather protected youth, he was able to tackle the hard work and earn the respect from his fellow workers and superiors.

Newly released documents have revealed that oil billionaire and museum founder J. Paul Getty was a friend and admirer of Adolf Hitler and even lent his support to Nazi Germany in the early days of World War II. Getty appears to have been at the center of a shadowy group of financiers that provided support to Nazi Germany in the early days of WWII. The dossier says Getty sold one million barrels of oil to Germany. The fuel had to be delivered via Russia, a German ally at the time, because a British blockade was in place.
