North Pole Travel and Global Warming, What it Means to You

( )  ( Model Airplanes )    ( Motorcycle Tours of Southern Europe )

After we land at Camp Barneo , we are still about sixty miles from the actual North Pole.  Some people ski to the pole which takes about ten days for the full degree.   Other people ride the helicopters until they are about thirty miles from the pole and do a five day one half degree ski trip.    The rest of us just ride the helicopter to the pole, set up the flags and the North Pole marker, drink Champagne and watch the skydivers do their thing.

This year we had the first Wing Suit jumper, Thomas Trautman, who jumped from, I believe, ten thousand feet, flew around the pole in his suit, then pulled the rip cord and landed.

As far as the skiers went, we had the Polish ski team headed by Marek Kaminski and Wojtek Moskal, which skied the one half degree.  I asked several of the ski team members if they ever got cold and they said no.  There were other ski teams that completed the failed Nansen
