Aircraft museums in Alaska?  As you can see there are several airplane museums in Alaska.  Alaska is a very high aircraft traffic state because airplanes are a very necessary form of transportation.  They use a lot of ski planes and float planes for many purposes from carrying the mail to flying tourist to using the airplanes as air ambulances. MATI is located on a fifteen-acre site in Wasilla, Alaska (50 miles north of Anchorage). From downtown Wasilla, travel about three miles west on the Parks Highway (mile 47) and turn left at the TRANSPORT MUSEUM signs on the overpass just after crossing the Alaska Railroad. The museum is about 3/4 mile off of the highway and the route is well marked.  It is adjacent to the Wasilla Airport (no scheduled air service). For those flying into the airport, the museum is about a 1/4 mile walk from the aircraft parking area.
