This is the beginning of the sled dog exhibit on Svalbard and on the North Pole.  Everything starts out in these dog kennels on Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway.   This is a picture of the sled dog kennel on the island of Spitsbergen.  As you can see, this is a frozen world with only about four months of summer.  Summer which means that there is very little snow on the ground during these months.   For all of the rest of the months, this dog kennel is frozen like an ice cube.  When in the kennel these dogs are living together but are separated so they can't really have contact with each other.
