| This is Liz Nelson the oldest lady to go to the North Pole as far as any records that I can find. There is an Ice Breaker that goes to the pole in August which an older lady may have visited the pole on but sitting in a stateroom on a cruise ship is not like being on an expedition. When we were in Khatanga, Liz twisted her ankle. We thought it was a sprain but after her return home and having it X-Rayed, we found out that she actually had a broken leg. So, in the picture above, Liz is standing there with a broken leg and never complained. What a trooper. In the background is the rear door of the Antonov An-26 Russian airplane that took us from Khatanga to Sredney Island. |
