Immediately after boarding the ship we were on the hangar deck of the KV Svalbard. In this picture you can see the hanger deck doors After leaving the hangar deck we went to the interior of the ship. When we closed the watertight door I noticed that my ears popped. There was an increased pressure inside the ship. This, the XO told me, was because the ship was made to be NBC Safe. NBC means Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical attack safe.

This ship has the ability to carry two helicopters in its hangar bay allowing a maximum mission capability.
