Vermont is nicknamed the Green Mountain State.  The population of Vermont is 565,000 people, number 48 of the 50 states, its capital is Montpelier, and its largest city is Burlington.  The land area of Vermont is 9,249 square miles, number 43 of the 50 states, and its highest point is Mount Mansfield which is 4,393 feet.
