One thing that you will notice
on the island of Spitsbergen, Svalbard, are the polar bears. The estimates
of the polar bear population vary widely, but I was originally told that the
polar bear population on the island group is about five thousand bears, while
the human population is only about two thousand five hundred.
Because of the large polar bear population your chances of seeing a bear is very
high.
