Skiing photo, making water on the North Pole

Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink.  This skiing photo shows a ski team member making water from ice on the North Pole.  The one thing that they cannot carry is enough water for their last degree trip.  The open water on the pole is from the arctic ocean and that is salt water.   As the ice freezes on the North Pole, the water is squeezed out, back into the ocean, increasing the salt content of the ocean leaving the ice almost salt free.  It rarely snows on the North Pole so what looks like snow on the ground is mostly crushed ice.  You can see in this photo a shovel of crushed ice being melted on camp stoves.
