Historical Background about
Willow Run.

BACKGROUND Willow Run: Henry Ford's greatest production achievement.
"Michigan Historical Review "

"In sheer magnitude and complexity, the production of the B-24 Liberator bomber at Willow Run represents the greatest mass- production achievement of the industrial age, in war or peace."

Conceived by Charles Sorensen, Ford's Director Of Production and Executive Vice-President, who said, "As I look back now upon that night, this was the biggest challenge of my production career, bigger than any Model-T assembly line sequence for Highland Park, more momentous than the layout and construction of the great River Rouge."

Designed by the world renowned architect Albert Kahn, who proclaimed Willow Run to be "The most enormous room in the history of mankind."
