Day in and day out, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, thousands of aviation professionals known as Air Traffic Control Specialists, perform their duties in airport control towers and in darkened radar rooms known as approach controls system and air route traffic control centers. In these days of big government and complaints of government waste, the air traffic control system is one ot the best taxpayer investments. Every day, at around 1:00 P.M. there are approximately 10,000 (Ten Thousand) aircraft flying in the skies of the United States. A little more than half of those aircraft are flying "in the system," Or, under the eyes of air traffic control. This system has a remarkable safety record that no other mode of transportation can match. In many schools and jobs, a person only needs to be right 70% of the time. In air traffic control, you must be right 100% of the time.
