Each Squadron of the 34th was made up of several flights.   The Pilots  Crumb, Jones, Eaton, Bishop, Witkoski, Spiezio, Shapero, McKenna, Nole, Hughes, Hobman.  The men are standing in front of one of their P-47 Thunderbolts on the island of  Ie Shima in WW2

Webmaster,I don't usually write to things like this but found your site accidentally . Martin Hobman was my uncle. He died of throat cancer many years ago. To a young boy of  8years of age He was a regular war hero.  I believe he was a gunner. They truly where the greatest generation. Seven of My uncles where in WW2. Best of luck M.Jack Hobman
