kids learn about f-16 falcon pilot life support devices at the life support division of the 183rd Fighter Squadron.  Sgt. Maliongas explains the differences between the face shields of the different helmets.  The old helmets used two shields on one helmet, a clear one and a smoked one.  These new helmets have a gradient visor which is darker at the top and clear at the bottom allowing the pilot to have protection from the sun and be able to see the instruments in the dark cockpit at the same time.
