At the Chopping Block in the Kitchen

When you're in the service, everyone gets a chance to visit the kitchen.  These guys are at the chopping block.  I spent my time peeling potatoes, 2000 lbs a night.  Then the cooks took off earlier than they were supposed to and my friend and I had to slice and cook the potatoes.  I was just out of boot camp and only eighteen years old and didn't know how to cook 2000 lbs of potatoes, so the troops got, basically warm, raw, potatoes.  This was in 1972 so I really don't know how these guys did it, but I can see that they too did spend time in the kitchen.  C.
