An F-18 Hornet prepares for takeoff. The F-18 is a multi role fighter which also performs the attack function. The F-18 has an empty weight of 23050 lbs. and a max weight of 56000 lbs. The F-18 uses two General Electric F-404 engines each producing 16,000 lbs of thrust, combined produce 32,000 lbs of thrust. Later versions of the f18 produce more thrust than this "A" model. The F-18A has a max speed of 1190 mph and a maximum climb rate of 60,000 ft/min

The f18 Hornet is a beautiful airplane.

When you take kids to an airshow, the jets are one of the best parts. This particular f18 is from VA-125 in Lemoore California. This is my first squadron attachment when I was in the Navy.

When this plane came into the flight line I jumped up and down and yelled at the kids about how this plane was from my squadron. This makes an impression on the kids and gives them information / training about aircraft types at the same time. My stay at Lemoore also included belonging to VA-192 the World Famous Golden Dragons and a cruise aboard the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier
