Sometimes Mother Nature can do more damage than the enemy. Here are many pictures of the aftermath of a hurricane. The hurricane damaged the buildings, tents, aircraft and just about everything. This hurricane created a lot of work for the islanders and the WW2 soldiers on Ie Shima. If it wasn't an air raid that required soldiers to hide, it was a hurricane. The island of Ie Shima is just off the northwest corner of Okinawa. It is a small island that has no mountains or any real natural protection which makes a hurricane even more deadly. |
