First Camaro went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year.  The car had 140 horsepower coming out of a 230 cubic inch, straight, six cylinder engine.  It had all wheel drum brakes and leaf springs.  The Camaros base was 2,466 Dollars

The classic '69 Chevy Camaro Z28 muscle car was the second-generation Chevrolet Camaro. The first Chevrolet Camaro came out in 1966. However, the '69 became the classic muscle car. The Z/28 came from the RPO code, or the Special Performance Package number.
