Photos of the Communications Section. |
These are the men of the Communications Section of the 34th Fighter Squadron on Ie Shima in WW2.When you need to talk to someone, you need to see the men of the Communications Section. This shows the men and some of their equipment. Communications also receives messages from headquarters, sends false reports to confuse the enemy and I'm sure many more duties. The photos of the 34th Fighter Squadron on this page were taken in WW2 on the island of Ie Shima which is located near Okinawa. |

Communications was the main center for radio communications, teletype, and
encrypting and
decrypting all of the messages. The communications department also had
listeners scanning
the radio frequencies for any enemy radio chatter.
