How much memory do you need in your Computer, if you want to play the latest video games, you need a lot of computer memory and you also need a powerful video card with a lot of video memory.  For example, My 1 GHz AMD computer running an ATI Raedon card, runs Microsoft Flight Simulator as fast as My 2.4Ghz AMD that was using a junkie, cheepie, video card that not only had a supercomputer built into it like the ATI Video cards do, this cheepie didn't have enough memory to work properly.

Increasing the amount of system memory makes a big difference in your computers operation too.  If you want your computer to operate properly with Windows XP and the programs designed for XP, you need at least 512 Meg of RAM. 

RAM (Random Access Memory) is now advancing so fast that they have DDR and Dual Channel Memory and the end isn't near.  Computer memory is advancing at tremendous rates making chips faster, smaller, and, hopefully, more reliable. 

Look at the different types of memory and hard disks that are available today.  Now, these Compact Flash cards and other Digital Camera Memory Cards are growing in size so fast that the regular Mechanical hard drives are going to be put out of business.  This newer generation of Removable Digital Camera Memory Cards are going to replace all of the CD's DVD's and Hard Disk.  The mechanical types of drives are so expensive to make as compared to the solid state non-volatile memory, that the all solid state memory systems are our only future, leaving the mechanical hard disk companies out in the cold.
