As the trip to Alaska comes to an end I had to take a couple of pictures of the beautiful foliage just before landing at O'Hare Airport in Chicago.  These pictures were taken at about the 3rd of October.  The location was only about a mile or two from the runway on the east side of Chicago.

Look at other parts of this exhibit to see what the fall colors in Alaska look like.  Do you notice the beautiful variety of colors in the pictures above?  Look at the bright reds, yellows, oranges, and deep greens.  This fall in the Lower 48 States which is totally different than the colors in Alaska.  In Alaska most of the trees were the same yellow.  Still very beautiful, but there was a lack of a fireworks display feeling as compared to the photo above.  The reds in Alaska were present farther into the mountains away from the coast.  These reds were created by ground plants, mosses, and small bushes.
